A Comet Rushing to the Sun was the first major exhibition of work by William Stott of Oldham for over 100 years, and was on show at Gallery Oldham from December 2003 to April 2004. Stott was a leading European artist during his short lifetime, but his work has rarely been seen in public since. In this catalogue, Roger Brown reconstructs William Stott’s career bringing together not only works in public galleries, but the many paintings by the artist which are held in private collections.
