Things are Going Bump in the Night at Gallery Oldham

For all those who have ever wondered what happens during the night, or for those who are feeling brave… From the 28th April – 10th November, Gallery Oldham introduces its new and very exciting exhibition – Creatures of the Night – it’s certainly not one for the faint hearted.

Featuring items from Gallery Oldham’s Natural History, Social History and Fine Art Collections, the exhibition explores the world at the dead of night including creatures, ghosts, dreams and more…

From moths, bats, owls, and foxes collected and preserved during the Victorian era, alongside live creatures such as geckos, frogs and tadpoles - combined with a Victorian lamppost and a creepy 19th Century Devil’s fireplace, this exhibition definitely has everything going on.

There is such a variety on show at the exhibition everybody is encouraged to come down and explore. Whether it’s to experience the dream world of gargoyles, to create your own computer generated animal and watch how its survives in its habitat, or perhaps to climb through the specially created diorama, never before has there been such a host of art work and activities on offer.

Paintings on show even include Francis Danby’s representation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream taken from the Charles Lees Watercolour Collection.
