Where Sheep May Safely Graze
5 May – 11 August 2007

Where Sheep May Safely Graze features works of art from gallery Oldham's exceptional collection of British art. The works on show reflect the changing attitudes to the countryside over the past 200 years.
A highlight of the exhibition is Edward Stott's The ferry, an outstanding example of British Impressionist painting. The painting is back on display after more than 20 years following recent restoration with a Woodmansterne Art Conservation Award.
Idyllic landscape and animal paintings and sculptures are combined with works that reveal a darker side to life on the land. Artists featured in the exhibition include Alfred Munnings, Alexander Stanhope Forbes and H.H. La Thangue.
Free exhibition talk: Wednesday 11 July, 1pm
