Peopling the Past
15 January - 19 February 2005

Let a range of characters take you on a whistle-stop tour through Oldham's history, from the 18th century to the present day.
This is fantastic opportunity to discover some of the intriguing items in Oldham's extensive museum, local studies and archives collections. It is also your chance to find out more and have your say about plans for Phase 3 of Oldham's burgeoning Cultural Quarter - a combined local history centre bringing the museum, local studies and archives collections and services together under one roof.
Gallery Oldham opened in 2002 and forms the first phase Oldham's ambitious new Cultural Quarter. The second phase, a new Library and Lifelong Learning Centre, will open in 2006.
Plans for Phase 3 are the refurbishment of the vacated Victorian library building to create the new local history centre. The centre aims to be the place to visit whether you are tracing your family tree, looking for clues to the history of your house, or just curious to see how our wildlife, our landscape and our lives have changed over time.
This exhibition is your chance to influence the development of the new history centre and how it will work. Make sure you come along and have your say!
