Living Landscapes
8 May - 4 September 2004

Taking inspiration from local landscapes, a group of Oldham women have come together to create this new exhibition from Gallery Oldham’s diverse collection of landscape paintings.
The team have been on walks through rural and urban landscapes with staff from Oldham Countryside Service and Gallery Oldham, taking photographs and recording their experiences.
Back at the gallery they then selected pictures of local scenes, as well as paintings of landscapes from across Britain, which demonstrate the variety and vitality of the environment that surrounds us. Their exhibition includes paintings by JH Carse, Algernon Talmage, Cedric Morris, SJ ‘Larmorna’ Birch, Charles Potter and Fred Jackson.
The group are from Fitton Hill & Hathershaw’s New Deal Stepping Forward Group, and Oldham Indian Association.
Living Landscapes is the first in a series of four exhibitions on a landscape theme.
