A Lasting Impression - Prints of Yorkshire and Beyond
15 May - 14 August 2004

Yellow Field, screenprint by Alison Saldana

This vibrant and colourful show by Yorkshire-based printmaking group Inkers continues the theme of landscape.

The group were inspired by the landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales and by working alongside landscape painter Katharine Holmes. They worked in the open air directly onto plates, blocks and stencils to capture their immediate responses to the environment.

Back in the studio, they experimented with a wide range of printmaking processes, using both the work produced in the Dale and new ideas related to West Yorkshire landscapes. The group introduced Katharine Holmes to collagraphy and screenprinting and so she exhibits for the first time as a printmaker in this exhibition.

A Lasting Impression features a wide range of styles and processes and, unusually, preparatory stages and printmaking materials are on show. The exhibition is an Arts Council, Lottery Funded touring show.
