Harry Ousey

12 March – 15 May

Untitled by Harry Ousey

In 1962 Harry Ousey held the first of ten one person exhibitions in London yet today his work is relatively little known. This exhibition includes paintings from throughout Ousey’s career, featuring landscapes inspired by the Peak District of Derbyshire and the Cornwall coast as well as surreal collages.

Ousey met and shared ideas with many of the leading artists of his generation. Along with his own paintings we will be exhibiting work from the Gallery Oldham collection, including examples by Paul Nash and Victor Pasmore. The exhibition has been organised with the help of the artist’s neice Sue Astles who has also donated several paintings by Harry Ousey to Oldham’s permanent collection of paintings
