Great British Watercolours

16 January – 28 February 2010

Carnarvon Castle, Moonlight, by Paul Sandby

An exhibition exploring watercolours from over the last 300 years featuring some of the finest British paintings in this country.

Brought to you by Gallery Oldham and Towneley Hall, Burnley, this exhibition highlights the wealth of the North West’s fine art collections.

The exhibition features some of the galleries’ best known watercolours by artists such as Constable and Turner and includes a wide range of paintings dating from the 1800s to the present day.

The exhibition is a culmination of a year-long project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which has conserved and re-framed 38 watercolours from the galleries’ collections.
