Lunchtime talks

Lunchtime talks take place on the second Wednesday of each month and are a great way to find out more about exhibitions.Talks are free, informal and last around 30 minutes. There is no need to book.

• Wednesday 12 October, 2pm Urban Traces: Ceramics and the City, with curator Dinah Winch.
• Wednesday 9 November, 2pm Making History, with curator Dinah Winch.
• Wednesday 14 December, 2pm Northern Potters Association, with potters from the group.
• Wednesday 11 January, 2pm Picture This! Illustrating Children’s Books, with curator Anna Sims.
• Wednesday 8 February, 2pm Chameleons and Shape Shifters, with the artist Michael Shaw.
• Wednesday 14 March 2pm Oldham Road, Second View, with the artist Charlie Meecham.

Saturday Talks

• Saturday 22 October 2.30pm The Oldham Panorama
  Social History Curator Sean Baggaley will explore this unique photograph of Oldham. Free drop-in.
• Saturday 11 February 2.30pm Treasures from the Natural History Collection
  Natural History Curator Patricia Francis will take you behind the scenes to explore the historic flora and fauna in our stores. Free

Behind the Scenes

Take a trip behind the scenes for a closer look at the Gallery collections in store. These sessions are linked to current exhibitions.

• Tuesday 18 October, 2pm Forget-Me-Not: The Language of Flowers
  Natural History Curator Patricia Francis will explore objects in store, followed by an optional nature walk.The walk will take approximately one hour. Please wear suitable outdoor shoes and waterproof clothing.
• Tuesday 10 January, 2pm Making History
  Art Curator Dinah Winch will show you paintings from our art collection in store.
• Tuesday 7 February, 2pm Picture This! Illustrating Children’s Books
  Social History Curator Sean Baggaley will explore the history of childhood in our collections.
• Tueday 13 March, 2pm Oldham Road, Second View
  Social History Curator Sean Baggaley will reveal our collection of photographs of Oldham and its people.
