Gallery Oldham is one of eight museums and galleries across Greater Manchester who joined together in 2007 to explore the lasting legacy of the transatlantic slave trade. At Gallery Oldham we created a slavery trail and explored the history of slavery and its local relevance through events, debate, exhibitions and displays.
Our new website www.revealinghistories.org.uk represents a living legacy of the project. It includes recordings of events, talks and performances that took place across the eight venues and images of objects in our collections.
There’s a wealth of historical information, innovative interactive drama and a range of resources for schools.
Why not take a look in the film section on the website? You can see A Letter From Trinidad, a moving film made by young people from Oldham working with Reel Mcr.
