Introduction to At the Edge
At the Edge is an exhibition of British paintings, sculpture and ceramics featuring major artists from the second half of the 20th century. Following on from the exhibition Creative Tension: British Art 1900 to 1950, At the Edge presents a survey of recent British art from the perspective of four regional galleries.
The exhibition looks at the difficulties that local galleries had to overcome to add work by leading British artists to their collections. As well as highlighting the many iconic pieces by well known figures such as Henry Moore and Lucian Freud in our regional collections, the exhibition also includes a range of interactive elements for family visitors and a wealth of background information for anyone who wants to gain a broader understanding of contemporary art.
